RentIncreaseCheck

The free checker

Is my rent increase allowed?

Tell it what the letter says. It climbs the same ladder a court would: coverage, amount, notice, timing.

For increases taking effect August 1, 2026 – July 31, 2027. The cycle resets every August 1.
The increase

Your answers never leave your phone. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or emailed — the rules are loaded with this page and the math happens here.

What the verdict means

The checker prints one of five answers. Appears to exceed the cap — with the lawful maximum and the monthly excess in dollars. Coverage fight — your landlord claims an exemption that fails on its own terms. Notice defective — the increase cannot take effect until full proper notice has run. Timing — a lock, a frequency rule, or the retaliation window stands in the way. Legal as served — the honest answer, with the negotiation path instead.

It never prints the word “illegal,” and it never tells anyone to stop paying rent. Every verdict’s first move is a letter or a complaint. Figures carry the stamp Rules checked October 2026 and the statute they came from, so you can check our work the way we checked theirs.

The Rent Increase Kit — $39, one time

The checker gives you the verdict. The kit gives you the paper: the cap-challenge letter with your numbers already in it, the exemption-rebuttal letter, the notice-defect letter, the rent ledger that turns an overcharge into a repayment figure, the complaint walkthroughs, and the negotiation pack for the days the answer is “legal.”
